The Pearl by John Steinbeck - Sample Essa Akoya by John Steinbeck Review

The Pearl by John Steinbeck - Sample Essa Akoya by John Steinbeck ReviewI have just finished reading the sample Essa Akoya by John Steinbeck and I'm glad I did. This is a book about what the tourist industry means to the people who work in it. Steinbeck's writing is great, and you can tell he loves this country and the things he sees here. The thing I like best about Steinbeck's writing is that he captures the mood of each town and each district of his country. At times it seems as if he is describing a time from the past when the nation was still young and full of possibilities. At other times it feels as if he is describing a place from today, which makes sense considering this book takes place in Alaska.Steinbeck's writing also captures the idyllic feeling that comes over you when you visit this part of Alaska, and I believe that's part of the reason why his books sell so well. I'm just going to end this review by saying that there are parts of The Pearl by John Steinbeck that I ha ven't read anywhere else and I'm very happy I read them. A few of these were actually parts of my travels and I enjoyed them as much as I did every time I read them. One of my favorite parts of the book for me was when Steinbeck describes how wonderful it was to be in the Navy. It reminded me of times in my younger years when I saw sailors running through the woods with a cannon at their sides, and how I wanted to be like those guys. And I don't even like guns! The rest of the book was about the workers and laborers in various locations around Alaska. They are depicted as being happy and appreciative of their jobs. And I think it's because of the opportunities that these people are given to take advantage of.In the first part of the book, Steinbeck shows how the young people in fishing villages go about life without much money. You see them go to school, get married, have children, buy homes, and raise them in a peaceful community. I found that interesting and I found myself wishing t hat I was one of those people.During the last chapter of the book, Steinbeck describes the great dream like place called Ennet House, which has been created by the artists to give people like the composers and musicians a place to work on their music without having to worry about the cost. The musicians can pay for their living expenses while they are working and creating great music. In conclusion, I have just finished reading The Pearl by John Steinbeck. I enjoyed the book, I learned a lot, and I was surprised at how true the author is in portraying the feelings of Alaska natives.
